Parliament session adjourned for 20 minutes due to microphone outage, Speaker says it is scandalous

There was another microphone outage in the National Parliament. Due to this, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram declared the session of the Parliament closed for 20 minutes on Sunday afternoon. He said, such repeated interruptions are shameful for the nation.

The microphone suddenly broke during the speech of the Chief Whip of the Parliament Nurul Islam before the Maghrib prayers.

After the passage of four bills in the Parliament on Sunday, Chief Whip Nurul Islam stood up to speak. He criticized the opposition for not voting ‘yes’ on the ordinance approval bill issued by the interim government, which increased the age limit for applying for government jobs to 32 years. At that time, the opposition party protested, but the Chief Whip continued his speech. He said, there was a July uprising for jobs, but I am surprised that the opposition party did not support the age increase bill.

At that time, the members of the government party supported the Chief Whip’s speech. Nurul Islam’s speech could not be heard due to the commotion between the two parties. When the Speaker addressed the Chief Whip, he said, “The speech is not being heard, sit down and read.”

At that time, the members unanimously said that they could not hear the Speaker. Then Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, “Then we will adjourn.” At this stage, the Speaker adjourned the Parliament session for 40 minutes, including 20 minutes for a microphone break and 20 minutes for Maghrib prayers. The Parliament session began after about an hour and 18 minutes.

Earlier, on the first day of Parliament on March 12, there was a microphone break. That day, the session was closed for about 40 minutes.
