Former Narayanganj mayor Ivy arrested in another murder case in Siddhirganj

Former Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, who is imprisoned in another murder case related to the anti-discrimination student-public movement, has been shown arrested. She has been shown arrested in a total of 12 cases.
Yesterday, Sunday, the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Selina Khatun of Narayanganj granted the application in this regard after the hearing. Out of the 12 cases, she has been granted bail by the High Court in 10 of them. However, their effectiveness has been suspended in view of the state’s application.
Selina Hayat Ivy is the former senior vice-president of Narayanganj District Awami League. She is currently imprisoned in Kashimpur Central Women’s Jail in Gazipur. Confirming the matter, Narayanganj Court Police Inspector Abdus Samad told Prothom Alo that the investigation officer applied to show her arrested after finding evidence of Ivy’s involvement in the investigation of the case, which the court granted.
Ivy’s lawyer Awlad Hossain said that although Ivy’s name was not in the complaint of the murder case of Rabbi Mia (22), she was included in the case for harassment.
Rabbi Mia (22) is a resident of Panchashi area of Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur. She used to live in a rented house next to Dutch-Bangla Bank in Siddhirganj.

However, the investigation officer, Siddhirganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Gazi Mahtab Uddin, said that although her name was not in the complaint, evidence of Ivy’s involvement in the murder was found during the investigation. Therefore, a request was made to show her for arrest.
According to the case report, Rabbi Mia was shot dead while standing on the fourth floor balcony of Khushbo Bhavan in Siddhirganj at around 5:30 pm on July 20. In this incident, her brother Antar Mia filed a murder case naming 69 people and accusing 200 other unidentified people.
Police arrested Ivy from her home on the morning of May 9 last year. Later, when she was shown arrested in a murder case and produced in court, she was ordered to be sent to Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur.
Ivy has already been shown arrested in multiple cases, including murder, in connection with the anti-discrimination student movement. The High Court granted her bail in the first five cases on November 9 last year, but it has been suspended. Although she was granted bail in the next five cases, the effectiveness of the bail is suspended. Currently, the hearing of these cases is pending in the Appellate Division.
