The World Cup is less than two months away. No team wants to hear about an injury to one of their players. Unfortunately for Argentina, three of their key players are injured.
Lautaro Martinez, Emiliano Martinez and Cristian Romero are injured. Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has suffered a new injury to an old injury. Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez reported a foot problem shortly before kick-off against Nottingham Forest last night. Due to this, he could not play in the match. Tottenham defender and captain Cristian Romero also suffered an injury in the 1-0 defeat to Sunderland on the same night.

With 25 minutes left on the clock at Sunderland, Romero fell on Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinski after being pushed by opposing striker Brian Broby. His right knee collided with Kinski’s head. It was then understood that Romero was in a lot of pain. He left the field limping with wet eyes.
2022 World Cup winner Romero is an important player for the Argentina team. It is not yet certain how long he will have to be out of the field due to this injury sustained in the accident. It will be known after tests. After the match, Tottenham coach Roberto De Zarbi said, “We will have to monitor the situation in the next few days. Hopefully the injury is not too serious. Because he is a very important player for us. He is very important for the rest of the season and to achieve our goals.”

Aston Villa goalkeeper Martinez has been struggling with a calf muscle injury all season. The injury resurfaced during the warm-up before the match in Nottingham. Martinez told the coaching staff he was unable to play just 20 minutes before kick-off. It was the third time this season that he had been ruled out of the match just before kick-off. Villa coach Unai Emery said of Martinez’s injury after the 1-1 draw: “He told us in the warm-up that he was feeling discomfort in the calf muscle. There was pain there.”

It is not yet known for sure how serious Martinez’s injury is and how long it will take to recover. However, there is some information about the other Martinez injuries.
The Argentine striker’s old left leg injury has returned. Inter Milan confirmed in a statement on Friday that Martinez has suffered a new injury to his left leg muscle. He returned to action last week after being out for seven weeks. Inter said that his physical condition will be monitored over the next few days. However, Inter have not yet officially announced how long he will be out.
Martinez returned to the club’s starting line-up on Sunday after missing five games for Inter and two friendlies for Argentina. The 28-year-old forward has been sidelined again with a fresh injury to his old one. He is unlikely to feature in the league matches against Como and Cagliari and the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Como.
The World Cup starts in the United States, Canada and Mexico on June 11. Argentina does not have much time before entering the fight to retain the title. Scaloni will certainly want these three players to recover as quickly as possible. However, even if they recover, there is still a place for mental discomfort. Injuries ruin the rhythm of players. Repeated injuries have a negative impact on the rhythm of the game. Scaloni should not be at ease at all for these reasons.
